I love this scathing Amazon review of Niffenegger's graphic novel

The problem with Amazon reviewers is that they’re often too laudatory. Not every book is perfect. That’s why I find it refreshing to encounter well-written 1 star reviews there.

Such as the one I just found for a book I was considering buying, Audrey Niffenegger’s (The Time Traveller’s Wife) graphic novel for the YA market, The Night Bookmobile. I like graphic novels, I like YA literature (Hatchet, My Side of the Mountain, etc.), I liked The Time Traveller’s Wife, and Niffenegger’s from Chicago, so how can you go wrong.

But .. the book is only available in hardcover (I really hate paying for hardcovers unless they’re classics or collector’s editions or one of my Favorite Books of All Time), there’s no Look Inside, and it’s only 40 pages long. So I read the reviews first. And I’m glad I did! Check out the one-star review. LOL

What a hoot! It’s about time someone “tells it like it is” about a book that is boosted by critics. The disappointment of reading a book described as a “must-read” by people who are “in the know” - I feel robbed. Time is fleeting; I resent having my time used up in worthless activities like reading half-written literature.
